Akazuki Bento Review Project: Nori Punch Cutters Set

I have wanted this set for a long time, there is something so simply adorable about a rice ball with a panda face! What’s better than a panda onigiri? How about a smiley rice ball, a panda rice ball and a koala rice ball?!

Cost: 4/5

This set of 3 nori (seaweed) punches comes in at £9 ($14.95), so only £3 per punch.

Ease Of Use: 5/5

Can you use a paper punch? Then you can use these nori punches! Simply put the nori in the punch and press down. Et Voila, you have a perfect panda, koala or smiley face every time, in what takes a second as opposed to the lengthy process of trying to hand cut nori.

Style: 5/5

With 3 distinct styles it would be enough to make anyone smile when being greeted by a koala in their lunch. I’m sure with a little playing around you could create more styles by mixing and matching!

  • Cheaper than elsewhere
  • Super fast and easy nori shapes
  • A great way to get nutritious nori into a lunchbox
  • Easy for children to use

  • What could possibly wrong with this set?!

I received the product to review but no cash was exchanged, my review is my honest opinion and has not been swayed by the company or anyone else.

  1. hi Oh!Bento

I have these as well, and initially I thought they weren’t very sharp, but I have heard recently that this has not to do with the quality of the Nori punch but with the quality of the Nori! Apparently the Nori that is exported outside Japan is of thinner quality than the non export product…

Am now experimenting with different brands of Nori to find one that is good for small detailed work like this, because as you say, the cutters are really cute to use
