5 for Friday 24/08/12 Sorry it’s late! I forgot to upload my 5 for Friday bento yesterday 😦 But here it is! It has three chicken kievs, white rice with my homemade furikake, sweetcorn and mixed peppers. It also includes my handmade bento picks 🙂 Advertisements Share this:TwitterTumblrFacebookPinterestEmailGoogleLike this:Like Loading... Related 18 Comments furikake looks great!! Thankyou ^.^ I’m still not sure about the taste, I’ve never tried proper furikake so I’m not sure how close it is to them, and I’m not too keen on salmon and have recently gone off nori too so it took a while to get used to the taste haha It looks really good! I want to try to make the furikake as well, although I still have several kinds of it lying around. I will need to finish some of those first xD. Yeah may as well finish what you have haha, but it’s a fun project ^.^ I really need to find somewhere that sells proper furikake, England really doesn’t cater much for people who like Japanese food 😦 No asian grocery shops around? They usually have some. I even have some korean furikake (but have not tried it yet xD.) There are a couple but they’re very small and the only Japanese thing I’ve ever seen in them is pocky 😦 But I guess it gives me more chance to make stuff from scratch haha. What does the Korean one have in it? One package is bonito furikake, the other vegetable furikake. There was also kimchi furikake but I didn’t buy it. I also still have some curry furikake (bought in Japan) which I used in my curry risotto cakes. It’s quite nice, but I’m not sure if I want to order it from ebay when I run out. They all sound delicious!!! eBay seems to be quite expensive when it comes to furikake, the delivery is usually more than the product price too 😦 Very jealous of you going to Japan haha Haha, I’ve been wanting to go for such a long time so yeah, it was nice to finally be able to go… xD. Would you recommend going? Is there anything that put you off? I really want to go but I’m scared there will be stuff that will ruin the fantasy of it all haha It depends on what you expect from Japan, haha. Personally I didn’t like Tokyo at all. I don’t like busy places and Tokyo is one of those places where you can never ever be alone, it seems. I hate that. I loved Kyuushuu because I love the nature there and everything was more laid back, although as a foreigner you stand a lot. You don’t see many foreigners outside of the big cities and touristic places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka… so you stand out a lot and I have to say I didn’t like that much either, because they will be talking about you as well, since they think you can’t understand (but I did, lol). Overall I really loved it, but next time I will avoid Tokyo, I think. That’s what I’m scared about, I don’t want to be the foreigner that they stare at and think is not there to enjoy the culture. I don’t mind busy places so Tokyo should be ok for me but ideally want to visit little towns too. I’ll just have to brush up on my Japanese before I go 🙂 Oh, some people will be staring… but in Tokyo not so much, I think. That’s fine ^.^ I don’t mind staring, I get that where I live, it’s just if I heard them talking about me I’d be slightly bothered, but I suppose if I speak to them in Japanese and I follow the etiquette correctly they won’t have too much of a problem with me… I hope haha Some people will have a problem regardless of what you do or say so… better not care too much :-). Just try to enjoy the trip it as much as you can, is my best advice :-). Yeah I guess that’s true 🙂 can’t please everyone lol. Is there anything you’d recommend doing while there? Since you’re into fashion, you should definitely check out Shibuya 109 :-). I really really want to go to shibuya haha. I’d have to check out some gigs while I’m there too 🙂 Leave a Reply Cancel reply Enter your comment here...
