Issue 36 came with 4 Incredible’s character picks and 1 Incredible’s logo stencil.

How to use in lunch boxes / bento

The character picks can be used to instantly jazz up a lunchbox. Or how about using them to create miniature kabobs?

The logo stencil can be used to sprinkle furikake or spices onto rice to create the logo image.

The picks are made of paper so they might not be reusable unless you’re very careful!

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 34 Lunchbox / Bento Guide

Issue 33 came with a plastic Minnie Mouse accessories mould,

disney cakes and sweets issue 34

Sadly, again, the mould is made of horrible, cheap-feeling plastic.

How to use in lunch boxes / bento

As the mould is plastic that cuts it’s uses down dramatically. You can’t use it in the oven or freezer (unlike the better silicone moulds) so that’s a no to frozen sauces or shaped egg whites. I’m not sure this mould be very usable for any type of lunch food.

What recipes are included:
• Minnie’s happy holiday cake
• Leadbottom’s lemon tray bake
• Tramp’s tempting gingerbread truffles
• The Aliens’ strawberry moon pies
• Pocahontas’ berry cheesecake
• Mr Fredricksen’s fantastic fudge
• Lightning and Doc cake part 1
• How to make apricot jam
• White chocolate recipes

I really hope they change the moulds back to silicone, but judging from the Eaglemoss facebook page, I’m not the only one!

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 33 Lunchbox / Bento Guide

Issue 33 came with a Bambi silicone mould.

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 33

How to use in lunch boxes / bento

The mould is a large jelly mould so unless you have a very large bento /lunch box you might struggle to incorporate this into a lunch meal. If you do have a large bento you could use it to shape mashed potato, rice or quinoa.

What recipes are included:
• Winnie the Pooh cake part 3
• Charlotte La bBouff’s cherry charlotte
• Mickey’s caramel trail mix
• Queen of Heart’s plying card cake
• Dug’s apricot and almond flapjacks
• Fairy Fawn’s forest fancies
• Bambi’s best ever blancmange
• Making a lattice tart crust
•Pancakes

If you saw the post about issue 31 you’d know that for some reason they have swapped out very useful, versatile silicone moulds for some horribly cheap, plastic moulds. From the sneak peak it looks like that is how all moulds will be from now on. Sadly it seems it is  way for them to cut costs.

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 32 Lunchbox / Bento Guide

Issue 32 came with two cookie cutters, Donald Duck and Daisy.

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 32

How to use in lunch boxes / bento

The cutters seem to be getting a lot more detailed which is either a very good thing or a bad thing in terms of bento making! While detailed cutters can make great character sandwiches etc they also make it harder to get consistent results as the details can tear the bread.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t be used, why not make some character sandwiches or use on sliced meat, cheese or egg sheet?

Here are some mini character sandwiches I made:Donald and Daisy Sandwiches

The details aren’t that clear because I didn’t want to press too hard in case the details cut through the bread and the bread would get stuck in the tiny spaces.

What recipes are included:
• Donald and Daisy’s cute cookies
• Shenzi, Banzai and Ed’s cupcakes
• Princess Jasmine’s almond delights
• Remy’s chef hat cupcakes
• Elastigirl’s red velvet cake
• The Prince’s love-heart biscuits
• Winnie the Pooh cake part 2
• Creating wood eff
• Filo pastry recipes

I would be extremely cautious when it comes to ordering from the Eaglemoss website and where possible I would only buy these magazines in store (as I have been doing).

I ordered a large amount of back copies for some friends in America who cannot get them any other way. I ordered them on the 22/11/13 and paid for next day delivery.

Eaglemoss have again made an attempt to fix the issue, one parcel arrived with some of the missing issues. After another exchange of messages I was told I would received the rest of the issues when they are back in stock.

A few days later another parcel arrived with a few more copies.

(That was months ago now)

A few more issues have arrived but I need to check and see if that is all of the ones I’m owed ( I don’t think it is but I could be wrong)

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 31 Lunchbox / Bento Guide

Issue 31 came with a plastic Aladdin mould with Aladdin, Genie, Jasmine and the Magic Lamp.
I’m unsure why this mould is plastic when the resy have been silicone, I can only hope they go back to silicone as this mould is not as versatile as silicone, nor is it as detailed.

How to use in lunch boxes / bento

While you may be able to use this mould in a similar way to the silicone one’s for chocolate making, I’m unsure how well it would hold up in the freezer so I can’t advise trying it for frozen yoghurt etc.
This mould has very little detail and it will be a lot harder to get the finished product out. I really hope they revert back to silicone!!

What recipes are included:
• Aladdin’s magic carpet cake
• Scar’s chocolate filo dippers
• Cinderella’s cute cake pops
• Buzz Lightyear’s star swirl cookies
• Duchess’ very berry cheesecake
• Goofy’s honey and pine nut toffee
• Winnie the Pooh cake part 1
• Making filled chocolates
• Filo pastry recipes

Like the previous moulds it can be used with anything that can be poured and frozen, like frozen sauces or yoghurt. You can also pour melted cheese in and allow to set. How cool would a dinosaur themed bento be with little cheese bones!

Disney Cakes and Sweets Issue 29 Lunchbox / Bento Guide

Issue 29 came with a two Snow White cookie cutters, Snow herself and Grumpy. (I wonder if we will get the other dwarfs in future issues?)

20140327-171513.jpg

How to use in lunch boxes / bento

Like any other cutter these can be used to make character sandwiches, although there may be a little too much detail in these ones to work 100% perfectly every time. They can also be used to jazz up sliced meat and cheese, make rice shapes or how about some savoury character biscuits?

What recipes are included:
• Snow White and Grumpy cookies
• Lucifer’s cinnamon doughnuts
• Daisy Duck’s white chocolate truffles
• Magnificent monster Yeti cake
• Princess Dot’s blueberry bars
• The Never Land Pirates’ cookies
• Beauty and the Beast cake part 2
• Decorating with candy melts
• Ginger bakes
